Our Local Growers’ Stall has been running every Saturday since 1st September 2012. The stall is run by volunteers from our group under the umbrella of Dungog Shire Community Centre. It operates in the CWA side-court next-door to Chillbillies Cafe Restaurant 9am-12noon every Saturday and is extremely popular.
The aim is to increase the availability of locally-grown produce in our community. The stall takes any quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables. Open-pollinated seeds and honey are also available (primary produce). Our only requirement is that it has to have been grown in Dungog Shire.
Most people are happy to donate unsold produce to the Dungog Community Centre and we usually have one or two boxes we donate at the end. This food is distributed to local people in need or used in the Community Kitchen.
To supply produce, turn up at the stall from 8.30am with your produce. You set the price and fill out a sign to go with your produce. We can e-mail you a form to fill out before arrival. On the sign please label your produce so people know what they are buying: “Organic”, “Chemical-free” or if not simply “Local”. Our group takes 10% for stall running costs so factor this in. Let us know if you wish to collect unsold produce at 12noon when the stall ends, or if you are happy to donate the produce to the Community Centre. You can pick up your takings along with a report of what sold at the Visitor Information Centre the following week.
If you bring produce regularly, we can pay into your nominated bank account.

Your page is looking great. Just wondering how we enrol for the food affair courses? Hope to hear from you soon. Regards Joy Rumbel
Are you able to pass a message onto your local growers? I am creating a directory to help people find local produce stalls. I am inviting them to list – absolutely free.
